A neighbor has his yard fenced in,we put up a fence,to close in the yard as we are putting in a pool,some of our fence is on the neighbor's property, only a couple of feet, he is concerned in 5 years we will now own that couple of feet. Is that true?

Adverse possession takes 20 years. However, if he gives you permission to leave the fence there and you accept his permission then he retains ownership.
