Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Massachusetts

signing options for married couples purchasing a home

what are the signing options that each member of a married

couple has when they purchasing a home together. Can a wife

sign for a mortgage and sign the title/deed even if she

is not going to contribute financially towards the mortgage

payments? Under what circumstances would it make sense for

a spouse's name to not be on a mortgage or title/deed?

I am not sure what you mean by "signing options". If both parties apply jointly for the mortgage, then both will be required to sign the mortgage and the note. Both will be responsible for payment of the mortgage. Whether both need to sign depends on whether the lender will not lend to only one member of the couple.
