I just became a trustee of an estate and I'm embarrased to ask about payment for my duties. how does this work?

Whether you are trustee of a trust established in a Will, or the Executor of the Estate you submit your bill for time and expenses to the estate to be listed as an expense of the administration of the estate, which is paid from the estate assets but is also a deductible expense of the administration.

If you are also a beneficiary of the estate you may wish to consult the attorney for the estate as to the most advantageous payment method for the estate. Good Luck.

You keep a log of the time spent, by date, the work done, and you can charge an hourly rate.
