Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Massachusetts

My wifes Mother passed away in 2008. She had a reverse mortgage on the house. The house was left to my wife and her sister in a will, but the will was never filed. They have decided to let the house go to forclosure as it is in very bad condition.

My question is can my wifes credit be hurt by this even though she had no financial interest in the house?

Thank you

Based on the information given, the answer is no. I assume there was no transfer of title into her name. If there was, you might want to contact the bank and give them a deed in lieu and avoid the foreclosure process.
