Legal Question in Tax Law in Massachusetts

Federal Tax Audit Representation

I just received a notice of Federal Tax Audit of my 2001 return. The audit is scheduled for April 15 in my home. Should I speak to the IRS first and then consider legal representation, or should I get representation now and not speak directly to the IRS?

Thanks.

Re: Federal Tax Audit Representation

You should immediately engage a tax lawyer! Do not speak to the IRS, let your lawyer do the talking. Anything you say can only hurt you. Please see my web site http://www.taxesq.com/ for many articles on audits and dealing with the IRS.
