Legal Question in Telecomm Law in Massachusetts

900 #s and minors

Can a phone company hold me responsible for a 900 number called by a 12 year old that stayed at our house overnight? It was not a 'sex' line, but it was definitely a 'chat' line with girls. The cost was over $200.

Re: 900 #s and minors

You have a good claim against the parents of the 12 year old for the money, however, the phone company will likely win against you... sort of the same way the gas company would win a lawsuit if the same 12 year old opened up your wiindows and left the heat set on 90 in the middle of winter.

You can sue the parents of the 12 year old in small claims court.
