Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Massachusetts

Family member going through a divorce. Spouses Atty requesting Fathers trust info. Is this normal? The trust says its to maintain surviving spouse. After the passing of the 2nd spouse, after all bills are paid distribution of any remaining assets to children. How can they look at Parents assets?
