Go to the Probate Court in the county where he last resided and see if there was an estate opened and if there is a Will filed. They will need to know the date of death.

A will may not be filed yet if he died recently. Additionally, if the house is held in some form of joint tenancy, it may not be dealt with in the probate court. Please feel free to call to discuss. 978-250-4255x16.

I agree with the other attorneys' answers. If he died in Lynn, where you are, then any will would have been filed in Salem Probate Court, 36 Federal Street, Salem. If he was not in Essex County, then you should check with the probate court in the county where he lived at the time of his death. You may also check how his property was held at the time of his death by visiting the Essex County Registry of Deeds website (again, if his property was in Lynn), to see if he owned the property individually or if it would pass to another upon his death. If it was held with another who had a right of survivorship, then the property would automatically pass to the other owner.

Please let me know if I can help you. Good luck -
