Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Massachusetts

Doing My Own Will

I am Low Income, and in bad health. I am questioning if it is legal to do a Will on my own, since I can't afford a Lawyer. It will be fairly uncomplicated. I am Divorced , no children, I would have My Sister as Beneficiary.

Re: Doing My Own Will

It is legal to do your own will. There are two ways to do this, 1. follow the formal requirements of a Will have it signed and witnessed by two people and notarized; or do it in you won handwriting and have sign it.

A will does not have to be expensive and many lawschools have programs whereby law students help poor individuals do things such as prepare Wills. Also, you can contact the local bar association for assistance. The Mass Bar and Boston Bar both have programs for income qualified individuals
