Legal Question in Consumer Law in Mexico

foreign contracts

Involved in a timeshare purchase, which I cancelled within the 5-day period. Cancellation effect July 12, 2007. Posted comments on ripoffcom. Received e-mail threatening legal action for making public comments without the company's consent as per verbiage in contract. Feel that since contract cancelled, am not bound by terms.

Re: foreign contracts

Glad you came to your senses. Hope you cancelled by certified mail, return receipt requested. Ignore threats of legal action aqnd post away, as long as you stick to the facts, and they are true.

Re: foreign contracts

Mr. Stone is right that you can post away. But consider this: if you do not remove them and they sue you, figure $10,000 to $20,000 to defend yourself. Probably makes more sense to remove the comments and move on with life.

You can't remove comments from Ripoffreport.com; so that isn't an option. I hope you only posted things you can substantiate. If you want a lawyer on your side in this, feel free to contact me. I speak Spanish fluently and have practiced in South America.

Re: foreign contracts

Comments and information posted should be clearly explained, so the legal implication can be determined.

In some Latam countries, this practice is not permitted even though it was stated in a contract.
