Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Mexico

Timrshare purchase-they snuck in a form to void 3 day cancel policy

7/19/04 we went on a vacation to Cancun Mex. its a timeshare place-they offered us a presentaion-we decided to buy into there membership program- 3 days later we had second thoughts-went to mgr.he said WE signed a form that said we void the right to cancel. We were never explained that was what we signed(they snuck that form in at the end of the paperwork and never explained what it was or lied to is about it-even after when i read it it made no sense. and when we asked for a copy-(after he showed it to us)he said he couldnt give us a copy. We really want to cancel this- we gave then two checks- one for $5900- the other to be cashed in three mths.(sept)

we also signed credit card vouchers for the other half- 10,000 payable out of credit card at $260 something for a few years. Is there anything we can do? We dont want to keep this and after buying we spoke to other people that had the same thing happen.i thought of canceling the second check and canceling my credit card but i dont want to be liable for the balance or have them come after me. PLEASE help

Thanks

There is a Federal Consumer Protection Law that allows for a consumer to cancel any contract within ten days of signing such contract, or within ten days of receiving the goods or service, whichever comes last. This article is mandatory and you cannot waive your right to canceling the contract, even if you signed on it. So, if you have not used your timeshare you still might be able to cancel the contract.
