Legal Question in Appeals and Writs in Michigan

assault with intent to commit murder

My boyfriend has been incarcerated ten and a half years. He filled a writ of habeas corpus in Feb of 2005,we were wondering why it is taking so long to get a response, and or is it to late if we were to hire a attorney to argue his oral arguements?

Re: assault with intent to commit murder

Have you called the court clerk to ask about the status and make sure you didn't miss any oral argument? They might not necessarily hold argument - you'd have to ask. Or, was it scheduled already - I can't tell from your question.

Depending on when the argument is scheduled for, and how the issues were presented in the written briefs, you could hire a lawyer to review the briefs and present argument on his behalf. The price would be based on where the argument is taking place, how much document review and background delving is involved, etc.

If you decide you need to hire a lawyer, please contact me.

Thanks.
