Legal Question in Appeals and Writs in Michigan

We filed a small claims suit against a tax company for there mastake for 2005. There mistake was caught by the IRS and with interest and fees, and back taxes it amounted to be about $2,800.00 witch is close to the $3,000.00 cap for the small claims court. So we were going to file the other tax error made by the tax company for 2006 at a later date, due to the fact that the cap is. NOW the company wants to have a lawyer. So the company is having the suit taken to a civil court and my QUESTION is:can we amend the case for the to reveal the 2005 AND 2006 so they re-felt both now! And Please tell me how do I do I go about doing it.
