Legal Question in Banking Law in Michigan

My checking account was recently frozen due to my wife being behind on her separate credit card (through our Credit Union). She has her own separate accounts including an IMMA, Savings, Credit Card, and custodial to our son. She is a secondary on my checking account. The credit union froze my checking account (as well as all of her accounts) when she was behind on her credit card payments. They did not notify me at all that they were going to freeze my account. Can the credit union legally freeze my account because she is a secondary without notifying me at all? For the record when she made the payment to the credit union's collections dept to unfreeze the account the rep unfroze the account for a short period of time, then put a freeze back on the account. When my wife went to the bank to transfer money (my payroll deposited that morning) the collections rep told the teller my wife needed to make the payment (and neglected to tell the teller she had already paid). That was eventually squared away that day with the teller and the branch manager. Thank you for your time!
