Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Michigan

bankrupcty

If I filed bankrupcty in 2001 and my home was included but we have kept making the payments and stayed in the home, if I chose to let the home go will it affect my credit now? My bankruptcy was discharged in 12/01 and can I just walk away from it?

Re: bankrupcty

As long as you didn't sign a reaffirmation agreement you should be able to walk away, but if you don't sign a deed over to the mortgage company they would still have to go through the foreclosure process to get you out of the house, so it might effect your credit if they have to go through that process.
