Bankruptcy Discharge
I have been discharged from bankruptcy however after my dishcarge a collecter showed up on my credit report stating the account was in collections. What should I do?
Re: Bankruptcy Discharge
They likely missed the fact that you have gone through bankruptcy. As a creditor, they should have received notification of your bankruptcy and been given the chance to file a proof of claim or attempt to recover through your bankruptcy. It is likely a clerical error - call or send them a letter stating you went through bankruptcy, and give them the case number, so they can verify it, and leave you alone.
Good luck.
Thanks.
Re: Bankruptcy Discharge
Call them and see why they are doing that. Then send them the discharge if it was pre-petition debt.
