Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Michigan

Bankruptcy--can I keep my husband out of it?

I am overwhelmed big time and I am thinking about Bankruptcy...just on my loans and credit cards in my name only. I am married, and I have a house and one loan in both my husband and my names. My question is...is it possible for me to file against the bills only in my name without affecting my husbands credit...he has a business that I do not want to jeopardize?? Thank you

It is possible for a spouse to file bankruptcy individually, without the other spouse. In such a situation, you can discharge only your debts. Your husband or any other co-signer would still be responsible for paying any joints debts.
