Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Michigan

Can't afford the installment payment

I had a judgement against me for a credit card debt that my ex ran up, the judge said I could pay 275 a month, but I can not pay my gas, electricity and and other bills plus this extra money, And it's worse now, because he based my payment on overtime that I'm not getting anymore. I support my 3 kids myself , my ex husband is fighing paying child support because he says he doesnt have the money. I want to know if there is anyway to get rid of this debt besides bankruptcy.

Re: Can't afford the installment payment

Petition the divorce court and the FOC. This debt should have been dealt with in the divorce. If it was dealt with outside of the divorce, but while the divorce was pending, ask about having it invalidated and sent back to the divorce court to determine who is responsible for payment.

If you don't have the cash to hire a lawyer, contact Counsel and Advocacy Law Line (CALL), the attorneys there can help you if you qualify as indigent.
