Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Michigan

I was in an auto accident a few years ago. As a passenger its my understanding the driver's insurance should have paid the medical bills. The driver was at fault and there were no other vehicles involved. years down the road I found out collection agencies are after me for the medical bills. What possible steps can I take to get this cleared? I am already in the process of obtaining a police report. The accident happened in Michigan. The driver had e-surance if I remember correctly. If it helps the drivers home address is in Florida.

There is a rule that you must file s claim for benefits within one year of the incurred bill. There is also a 6 year statute of limitations on the bills themselves. www.kliszlaw.com. Tim Klisz
