Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Michigan

I have a bank account which is joint owned by my step father. On March 15, 2010 I made a transfer of $17,000 from my savings account to his checking account.

Now when he borrowed this money from me he was telling me he needed to buy something. At the time he was fixing the house, so I assumed that is what he needed it for. He also mentioned that he had the money but he just did not have it right away. He was planning to cash out his Thrift Savings Plan which was around $24,000 when he would get it.

Two hours later he comes back with a 2006 GTO that he purchased from a dealer. Now here is the thing HE WONT PAY ME BACK. Is there anything I can do to get my money back?

On my monthly statement 3/15/10 I have proof that I made the transfer of $17,000 but the problem is that it doesn't show that it was transferred to his account. Just says 03-15 TRANSFER TO CHECKING -17000

You will certainly have to sue and it will be an uphill battle without a promissory note. Visit me at www.kliszlaw.com to discuss. Tim Klisz
