Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Michigan

My brother in law passed away this past april. He left his life insurance to my husbands other brother. He has yet to pay for all of the funeral expenses. He has stated that my mother in law and father in law are responsible for those debts. Is there any way that we can make him pay for the funeral expenses..isn't that what the life insurance is for? Thanks for your help.

While he is selfish, he is legally correct. These proceeds are not probate assets and only those people who arranged the funeral are responsible for those debts. kliszlaw.com Tim Klisz
