Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Michigan

Collecting debt from family

I have a signed promissory note stating the amount owed and the terms of the loan, as well as all documentation of money given showing that is was a loan, how do I get started in persuing getting this back. It is $30,000. My family member has not even attempted to give me back 1 cent and it was supposed to have been paid back in 2 months. It is now 2 years later! What can I do?

Re: Collecting debt from family

you will have to file a lawsuit against her in circuit court (since the value is over $25K). if you want an attorney to assist you, please let me know.

assuming you could get a judgment against the person, is he or she collectible, and/or do they have a job where you could garnish wages?
