File an answer within the time frame. You have to do this or you forfeit your right to contest their allegations. So if you are disputing the amount or disputing the debt you need to file an answer to their complaint. If you are collectible, meaning you have a job or have a car with no lien on it then if you do not contest the debt they will get a judgment and they will garnish your wages and levy upon your vehicle. Do not simply call the lawyers representing the creditor expecting to stop them. You have to file an answer if you want to fight this.
