Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Michigan

wife liable?

My husband co-signed for his daughter who lives in Mich. She has since quit paying for this car and we have made some payments. Will my credit going to be influenced if he doesn't pay?

Re: wife liable?

No, your credit should not be affected if you did not co-sign. Generally, a husband's and wife's debt obligations are separate unless there is a joint account whereby both husband and wife agree to be jointly liable for the debt.

If neither the daughter or your husband make payments, your husband's credit can be adversely affected.

This communication does not establish an attorney-client relationship.
