Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

My dogs are accused of killing the neighbors goats. I have been in front of the prosecutor twice now and have asked to see the evidence against me. They have none, just that the animal control officer believes it was my dogs. I applied for a court appointed atty, but was denied. The reason being that no jail time is expected. The prosecutor offered me a deal, to pay for the goats and fines. I am pleading not guilty because I know my dogs did not do this. I don't know how to represent myself. What is the first step in preparing for my case on my own? I am on social Security Disability and have no money for an atty. Thanks

1 Answer from Attorneys

Intelligent lawyers don't try to represent themselves in court. Intelligent doctors don't do surgery on themselves.

Intelligent people on Social Security find a way to hire an aggressive attorney to fight for them.
