Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

Felony drug trial

My husband has to go to trial in a week, he is being represented by a court appointed atty. He is beig chared with felony crack possession under 25 grams. It's his first drug offense, but second felony. He hasn't been able to reach his atty and he is pleading not guilty, but as of now we have no idea what defense the atty will be using. The atty said we were waiting for a plea deal, but we have never been offered one. Can he be offered one at trial? What should we expect? Any help is appreciated.

Re: Felony drug trial

Sorry that your husband had to settle for a court appointed lawyer. It might be a good idea to hire another attorney before its too late.

Re: Felony drug trial

Almost no case goes to trial on the first date. Many plea bargains are made just before trial.
