Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

home invasion and assault against step father inlaw...wife is wittness...can court order no contact with wife since they want to use her against me? This doesnt seem legal...we have other bussiness that needs attention not to mention she is my LAWFUL wedded wife...can anyone say Lawsuit?

Yes, a court ... under appropriate facts ... can order you to have no contact with various people connected to your criminal case, including your lawfully wedded wife.

You don't explain how she is involved in this as a witness so it's impossible to give a more detailed reply.

Just because you have business connections with her and are married to her does not give you unrestricted access to her. If she was an eye witness and the prosecution is concerned about witness tampering, a judge may order such a no contact condition to your bond.

There are cases coming into courts every day where one lawfully wedded spouse is ordered to have no contact with the other lawfully wedded spouse if there has been assaultive behavior, threats, harassment, etc. They are called Personal Protection Orders, and THEY are legal.
