Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

What can I do to help get my husbands case for domestic violence dropped since I tried dropping it after my sister called. Can I write a letter to the judge or anything?

The state may pursue the matter even if you wish for them to "drop" the matter. Your husband needs an attorney. I've had great success in similar circumstances i.e. a reluctant complainant. He may contact me for more information.

Writing a letter to the judge won't matter. Only the prosecutor has the authority to dismiss the case. You can contact the prosecutor in charge of the case to state you want it dropped and state why. Just keep in mind that at the end of the day, the prosecutor alone will make that call. Although it is not ideal, they can and sometimes will proceed without your cooperation. If you do not honor your subpoena, you can be held in contempt of court and placed in jail.
