Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan

I have a question, i have a relative who was just picked up in mi for fleeing the state in AL, if there wasnt a warrant when this relative left state, how can this person be charged with fleeing across state lines, and can this person be charged with it if they found out after leaving the state there was a misdemeanor warrant out for this person...I am a little confused, as this relative holds a job that requires a lot of moving around from state to state and was mearly going to the next job site....can someone please explain how this works as I have googled it and not gotten any answers.
