Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan
my step dad went to court in michigan on driving with suspended license charges. the judge set a new pre trial conference date. he went home and the police showed up at his house that night saying he had an order to impound the vehicle.the only document he had with him was a paper verifying ownership and who the vehicle would be released back to. this course of action was not mentioned in his court hearing and he was shocked. can law enforcement legally do this,even though the party is unaware of these proceedings and how?
