The Age for Rent

I heard from a friend that you only had to be 17 to rent an apartment or other property, is that true or do you have to be 18?

Any party who contracts with a minor is not able to enforce the agreement. The exception is an emancipated minor. That is one who lives on his own, and supports himself. It may also be necessary to have a court order declaring the minor emancipated.
