Legal Question in DUI Law in Michigan

1st M.I.P.

I am 19 yrs old and just recieved my first M.I.P. because i was walking down the street late at night and a cop pulled me over, i blew a .144, i was arrested and had to stay in the ''drunk'' tank because no body would meet us to pick me up. On the ticket it says, Minor In Possession in public, i have a court date 2 weeks from now. Should i plead guilty at my court date or try and get a lesser charge through the prosecutor? Thanks

Your post seems a bit incomplete as very few MIP's get locked up.

In any event you can avoid a record if you follow the protocol at your pretrial which usually follows a plea of not guilty at your arraignment. If you don't understand the protocol, get a lawyer.

Avoid the mindset of "I just want to get this over with".
