Legal Question in DUI Law in Michigan

License status if I move to another state

I currently have a suspended license in MI. I have a job offer in CA that I am strongly considering taking. If I relocate, what steps will I have to go through to get a drivers license in CA? Will I have to fly back to MI for DLAD hearings? Are there any other issues to consider?

If your license has been revoked you must apply to the drivers appeal board to have your license reinstated. You don't have to appear at the hearing, but it is highly advisable to appear. When you receive a notice that you are eligible to petition for license restoration you should contact an attorney in Michigan to represent you. You can represent yourself, but that is generally not a good idea.
