Legal Question in DUI Law in Michigan

My son received a DUI in Illinois when he was 18 years old and he successfully completed his supervision. However, he received an MIP when he was a college student in Marquette at age 19 and another when he was 20. He just paid the fines for each. ( dumb move) He is now 25 years old and is having difficulty finding a job because of not passing the background check. My question is, can there be any way to get these MIP's expunged? After all, if rapists and murderers can be pardoned, can't something be done about these MIP's? Let this be a lesson for all college students!!
