Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

My 17 year old son wants to move to AZ...

.....My 17 year old son wants to move to Az this summer and finish High School out there. We have friends that are willing 2 take him in and support him. The school system is requiring guardianship...I have no clue where 2 start and what is really needed. I am divorced from his father and we are both very supportive of his decision. can you help

You would need to file the change of guardianship papers here in Michigan, since that is where your son currently resides. You should start the process now, as it may take a month or two to get it processed through the court, depending on what county you reside in.

You should also provide your friends in AZ with authorization to provide your son medical treatment should an emergency arise (plus all the medical insurance info), however, the guardianship papers, should be sufficient.

You need to file a guardianship petition in this state, naming the parents in AZ as the guardian. I would be happy to assist you through the process.
