Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Brother vs. brother paternity

I have a friend that is wanting to establish paternity of the child he currently supporting. He has been supporting this child since it was born on the assumption the child was his. His twin brother has come to him and admitted having a relationship with her. After the divorce was final it was admitted by both parties that they had been having casual relations during the time that she got pregnat. The father has been supporting this child the whole way threw because he has been the only father. Can he prove paternity in court and not be financially responsible according to Michigan law? If so where does he start?

Greetings; The answer to the question is: maybe?? The answer depends a lot on the judge and what has been his history of parenting. I have filed many motions for paternity testing in the past and would welcome another. Kindly give my office a call; 616-457-5100; www.trichler.com
