Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Divorce in Michigan

We've been married 26 years, two grown childern. Husband earns 97k -105 k per yr don't know exact amount I earn 24k (stayed home when girls were little) he now states he no longer cares about the marriage I'm not sure how I can live on my salary. Am I entitled to any alimony for 26 years and a much lessor income? He acts as if not, so thid is part of his not caring like leave me you'll have nothing. Also if I leave our home will this diminish any chance of receiving extra from him? He's not going anyplace, refuses to talk to me I can not stand living there much longer but don't know where to turn. Also do not want to spend all of our savings on the divorice a I will not have much to begin with nor do I have much earning potential we are both 51. would appreciate any advice. You have a classic case for alimony (spousal support). You are actually in a good position. You should met with a family law lawyer to get a "feel" for how to proceed. Economics can be worked out. Feel free to call if you are in the Wayne, Oakland or Macomb County area. William S. Stern
