Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

My friend is having trouble at home. He is 17. His mother is an alchoholic, and even though she never does anything physical to him, they are constantly arguing and non-physically resisting eachother. Shell take away his phone, hell go into her room and take it back, stuff like that. His father is out of state about 2/3 of the time, but when hes home, he assists my friend with these civil revolts against his mother. I dont think hes allowed to run away and stay with me, is he? If not, he says his mother sometimes kicks him out, and hell simply return a couple hours later, would it be legal for him to come to my house and not return? Or, if his father approved, but his mother opposed, is it legal for him to stay with me while his father is away, or even home? I will not encourage him to do anything that is not legal, and him coming to stay at my house will be approved my my parents. I am 15 and male. There is also my mother, father, older sister (17), younger brother (10) and younger sister (8) in the house. And, if its relevant, my cousin who lives in minnesota and him are dating.

At 15 years old, you should not be involved in trying to resolve your 17-year-old friend's issues with his family. You can best be supportive of him by suggesting that he speak with his school counselor or clergyman. They are trained to assist with family issues.
