Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

My husband has agreed to an uncontested divorce if I file after the first of the new year. If I live out of state, can this be accomplished if we agree on everything prior? Can an attorney take care of this for me and do they need to be in the county in which we resided?

Typically, an attorney needs to be admitted to the state bar in which the case is filed in order to represent you. As far as the process if you agree on everything, there will probably still be a waiting period (about 3 months if no kids, 6 months if you have kids). Unfortuantely, a lot of times people go into the process thinking they will agree on everything, but when you start talking specifics, there's a breakdown. You should contact an attorney to discuss your options in more detail. Good luck.
