joint custody of a child
i have had my son every other week for 8 months, just like the joint custody laws require, yet i do not have joint custody. now the custodial parent wants to go back to every other weekend. i need to know if i will be able to get joint custody given the circumstances.

Only the judge can decide whether there will be a change of custody. Given the very limited information that you provide, it sounds like you may have a decent chance. However, only your lawyer can give you an accurate opinion once all of the facts of your case are examined.
