Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Would a person of 17 years of age be able to change their legal guardian without filing a petition of guardianship in the state of Michigan? Is there a way to do this without going through the court? The 17 year old wants to change their guardian and there is an adult willing to be that for them.
