Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Can he get his son taken away for having a girlfriend?!

My boyfriend is goin to be 18 in a month and has a 3 month old son. He's not with the baby's mom anymore but with me. He thinks that if it gets out that we are together, he can get his son taken away from him. (He has 3 days a week visitation rights.) I don't know if it's true or not, but I don't want him to get his son taken away; he loves him more than anything. I don't know if it matters or not that we're sleeping together, but we are. I just want him to be comfortable with being with me and not have to worry about getting his kid taken totally away from him. Please help me find out if there is any problem with us being together!

Nothing is wrong per se, unless you are under 18. If you are under 18, his sexual relationship with you is considered statutory rape. That could have an effect on his parenting time.

I wouldn't worry about it. However, as the child gets older, if you spend overnight with both of them the mother may make some noise and potentially cause problems. If you two ever get married, the problem is solved. William S. Stern 248-353-9400
