Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Step Dad Medical Bills

Hello, my step daughter recently

had to go to the hospital. After my

insurance coverage there is a bill of

$7500. The divorce papers state

that her dad is supposed to pay

half. I paid half the bills and are

now being sued by the hospital for

the difference. He has never paid

child support, so I figured that

every dollar I paid over half was

money in the wind. Is there a way

that I can have him billed?

Re: Step Dad Medical Bills

The best way to deal with this is to purse the father in court. Just of course, whether this is effective depends on whether this guy has money. But you can certainly get him found in contempt which may cause him to come up with some money to pay.
