Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

Unmarried mother leaving state with baby

What rights does the father of my baby have if I decide to leave the state with my baby to live with my mother? I have not filed for child support yet!

It depends. If there is a court order awarding custody and visitation then the order would control the decision. If there isn't any order then you could relocate with out any say on the part of the child's father. Has paternity been established? If so, legally? You should meet with an attorney in your community and further discuss your options. Some county bar associations have attorney's who will answer such questions as yours free of charge. Good luck.
