Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

For New Year's Eve I have made plans with friends and asked my children's father to watch the kids.. he said okay. Now he is backing out. We share custody, he never sees his kids and I maybe get $100/mo in child support. I work 49 hours a week and manage to take care of my children on my own. If I drop my kids off with him and leave to go downstate can he call the police and get me for child neglect? Would I be in any legal trouble if I do this? Mind you he was just served with child support papers today on 12-15-16. I just want to make sure I won't get in any legal troubles here before I do this.

Much more information would be needed to give an accurate answer. Meet with your family law attorney to review any existing custody and parenting time orders before doing anything else.
