Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Michigan

car rental liability

My friend wants me to rent a car for him to go out of town. He will be listed as a driver, but is not going to take out any insurance due the cost. I have no-fault insurance on my vehicle which covers me if I was to rent a car, but no one else to my knowledge. Will I be liable if somethings happens to the car?

Re: car rental liability

You must already know this a bad idea, i.e. the kind of an idea that makes judge's snicker when you appear in front of them for attempting to defraud your insurance company.

You probably won't get jail time if this will be your first conviction.

Re: car rental liability

Tell your friend to rent his own car or have him take you on vacation with him and you do the driving.
