I did some volenteer work and got a used laptop as compensation. I let my girl freind useit and ti was stolen. I have priced laptops online and it will cost 250.00 to replace the computer. Can I sue her in order to replace the compter. if so where do I start.

Ordinarily you'd start by filing a small claims complaint with the 36th District Court and having the complaint served on her (Cost = about $65).

But, just because you can sue doesn't mean you should.

No lawyer would ever take this case and, since I'm assuming you now have an ex-girlfriend, you should be aware of the axiom that "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned".
