Legal Question in Employment Law in Michigan

I am a 53 year old woman, Assistant Mgr. in Accounting for a Fortune 500 Insurance Co. Last year a male (mid 30's) was promoted to the position of Supervisor and has since reported to me. A few months ago, during a discussion about this supervisors promotional opportunities in the future, my boss asked me about my plans for retirement. My last performance review was very good, but today I was told that my leadership qualities were not what the company was looking for in the future and I was told that I am being transferred to another department and being demoted in position to Administrator. What's going on here. Something stinks in my view.

It sounds as though you may have a case for age discrimination. Check with a lawer who specializes in employment law.

Good luck!
