Legal Question in Employment Law in Michigan

my employer recently has reduced my salary by 50% and now is only at $1000/month and I work 40+ hours/week. they also are trying to have me set up an llc and are requiring me to get paid on 1099 when I know I am a w-2 employee.. What recourses am I supposed to take? they also "fine" people for whatever reasons they feel like.. I.e. the boss doesn't like post it notes and if he sees one he fines employees $5/one

I would have to know a little more about your situation to give you a full answer, but $1000 per month is probably not enough. Most employees who are properly paid on salary and not receiving overtime must make at least $455 per week. Additionally, your employer should not be paying you as an independent contractor (1099) if you are actually working as an employee. Also, your employer is not allowed to deduct penalty fines from your paycheck without your written permission for each specific deduction.

Our firm may be able to help you with these issues. We may be able to help you recover your unpaid overtime plus liquidated damages. If you are interested in a free consultation so we can discuss your specific situation more thoroughly and your possible recourses, please call 1-800-WAGES-10 or (248)295-7210.
