Legal Question in Employment Law in Michigan

Money withheld from final paycheck.

Money was withheld from my final paycheck because I cashed a check for someone and it bounced. My ex-boss said that when he received the money for that check it would be forwarded to me. Can he withhold money from me for that? There never was a policy stating that we were not allowed to cash checks for customers.

Also, if there was no written policy regarding unused sick time should I be paid for hours that I did not use?

Thank you in advance for your response.

Money was withheld from my final paycheck because I cashed a check for someone and it bounced. My ex-boss said that when he received the money for that check it would be forwarded to me. Can he withhold money from me for that? ANSWER: No. But, you should be aware that, if you cashed the check and knew that it would bounce, you could be criminally liable for embezzlement.

Also, if there was no written policy regarding unused sick time should I be paid for hours that I did not use? ANSWER: No.
